ASCC AGREES ON FOUR COMMITMENTS TO BE DISCUSSED AT ASEAN SUMMIT

THE 29th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) 2023 Ministerial Council has agreed on four commitments that will be discussed at the 42nd ASEAN Summit 2023.

“It has been agreed at the ministerial level, it will be brought to the 2023 ASEAN Summit,” Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said after the 29th ASCC Socio-Cultural Pillar Ministerial Council meeting in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali Province, Monday (5/8).

He said the four commitment documents are related to one health, ASEAN village network, protection of migrant workers in crisis situations, and migrant workers, especially migrant fishermen. These four commitment documents are an effort to advance an inclusive ASEAN.

During the 29th ASCC Session, the PMK Minister said that ASEAN Ministers and Secretaries General reaffirmed their commitment to work together in realizing the priorities of the Socio-Cultural Pillar under the Indonesian ASEAN Leadership 2023.

“Let’s strengthen our cooperation in promoting ASEAN’s relevance as an epicenter of growth in the region and beyond,” Muhadjir said.

The 29th ASCC session was chaired by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy. Delegates attending the session included Brunei Darussalam Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Haji Nazmi Bin Haji Mohammad; Cambodia Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Nath Bunroeun; Laos Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Suanesavanh Vignaket; Malaysia Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing.
