THE CHOSEN LIVING TREE THEMED DESIGN IS THE NEW IKN NUSANTARA LOGO

THE TREE of life logo has a philosophy that is in line with the development of IKN Nusantara. The tree-of-life-themed design was chosen as the logo for the National Capital of the Archipelago based on the results of a competition inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday.

“The chosen logo has the theme of a tree of life, which was designed by Aulia Akbar,” Jokowi said when announcing the results of the National Archipelago IKN logo contest.

The logo has details in the form of five roots at the bottom representing Pancasila, seven stems in the middle representing the seven major islands within Indonesia’s territory, and a 17-petal flower at the top representing the date of Indonesia’s independence.

President Jokowi hopes that the tree-of-life-themed logo will inspire IKN Nusantara to create a new place of life as well as a symbol of life for all Indonesian people in the future.

The President also assessed that the tree of life logo has a philosophy that is in line with the development of the National Archipelago’s IKN.

“Growing a sense of pride in national identity as a big country, a big nation, a pluralistic nation, and raising public awareness to protect nature, the environment and its ecosystem,” said Jokowi.

The President also stated that the selected logo strengthens the joint effort to contribute to accelerating the development of the National Archipelago’s IKN.

Previously, Head of IKN Nusantara Authority, Bambang Susantono explained that the IKN Nusantara logo contest had sent more than 500 designers which were then published by a team of curators from the Indonesian Association of Graphic Designers (ADGI).

The curatorial team then invited 10 designers to show their maknae logos, which were then chosen by President Jokowi to be decided through a public opinion poll. The citizen opinion poll was conducted from April 4 to 20 May 2023 and collected at least 500,260 votes for the IKN Nusantara logo.

“The winning logo won 133,069 voters or around 26.6%. Aulia Akbar is one of the founders of the design house POT Branding House and as the winner has the right to pocket a cash prize of IDR185 million,” he concluded. [antaranews/special photo]
