THE JAKARTA-Bandung Fast Train is targeted to start operating in mid-August 2023. This first Fast Train in Southeast Asia can be used to transport passengers as a gift for Indonesia’s 78th independence.
According to the Corporate Communication Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia China (KCIC) Emir Monti, in the early stages the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train will carry out a soft launch. The public can later try using the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train service from Halim to Padalarang, including trying to integrate the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train with the Jabodebek LRT which connects Halim Station to all Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi (Jabodebek) LRT service stations as well as the Feeder Train which integrates Padalarang Station with Bandung and Cimahi KAI Stations.
“Later on, people can try the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train service with the aim of introducing this mode of transportation with speeds of up to 350 km/hour,” said Emir through his official statement, Thursday (6/8), 2023.
The operational introduction period for the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train is planned to be implemented until September 2023. Regarding procedures and registration schemes for the public to use KCJB services during the operational introduction period, it is being discussed and will be announced soon.
During the introduction period, the number of stations that will serve boarding and alighting passengers is still limited and will be added in stages. Furthermore, the operation of KCJB will be carried out normally in accordance with applicable regulations and provisions.
Emir added, currently KCIC is focusing on Testing and Commissioning KCJB using CIT or Inspection Train. After previously all electricity on the track was turned off in order to improve infrastructure, in mid-June 2023 it is hoped that the Inspection Train will start being tested with speeds of up to 300 Km/Hour.
The speed of the Inspection Train will continue to be added gradually through the tests that are currently being carried out. The speed will be added from the current 180 km/h, 300 km/h, 350 km/h, until it reaches its technical peak speed of 385 km/h.
After these stages can be passed, it is hoped that in mid-July 2023 KCIC will conduct a trial run using the *EMU* or *Passenger Train* series. There will be testing according to the daily KCJB operational schedule later.
“KCIC together with all stakeholders will continue to accelerate development while prioritizing safety in order to be able to complete this national strategic project according to the targets that have been set,” Emir concluded. [sources/photo special]
