WINTER activities are extremely popular on Hokkaido, a large island located in the far north of Japan. Whether you’re visiting with friends, your partner, or family, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. While planes are a convenient way to get to Hokkaido from Tokyo, they’re also an easy way to get around the island.
Hokkaido has many airports, such as Rishiri Island, Wakanai, Monbetsu, Memanbetsu, Nakashibetsu, Asahikawa, Kushiro, Obihiro and many more. If flying from Tokyo, it takes about 80 minutes to Hakodate and about 95 minutes to Sapporo (New Chitose). Flying from Hakodate to Sapporo (New Chitose) takes about 40 minutes.
