TARGET 20 MILLION FOREIGN TOURISTS TO VISIT BOROBUDUR: SANDIAGA

TOURISM and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno urged Agustin Peranginangin, the newly appointed President Director of Borobudur Executive Authority Agency (BPOB), to strive to draw 20 million foreign tourists to visit Borobudur Temple.

The minister noted that the temple has vast tourism potential that can be further developed. In order to achieve the target, the ministry has prepared several business approaches.

“We are ready to take approaches other than business as usual. Our target is to attract 20 million foreign tourists to visit Borobudur Temple by promoting the spiritual-based tourism concept,” Minister Uno stated after inaugurating several officials in Jakarta on Monday (7/3), 2023.

He emphasized the need to focus on appealing to not only domestic tourists but also those from other countries.

On the occasion, the minister also called on the agency to conduct various activities by collaborating with related stakeholders to make Borobudur a high-quality and sustainable tourist destination.

Apart from the BPOB’s president director, Minister Uno also appointed the ministry’s six high-ranking officials, five administrative officers, 10 functional officers, as well as a lecturer from the Tourism Polytechnic of Makassar.

The minister then urged all officials to serve the country by prioritizing the ethics of morality, honesty, sincerity, and a sense of responsibility. In addition, he pushed the officials to make innovations and uphold integrity and totality.

Furthermore, Uno encouraged them, especially the high-ranking officials, to exert all-out efforts to complete the ministry’s remaining tasks until October next year.

“Work immediately, as we only have less than 18 months remaining to finish the remaining tasks until October 2024. Work quickly, optimize all resources, and finish every duty and challenge. In short, we should move fast,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
