BEYOND the first semester of 2023, Traveloka, a travel platform throughout Southeast Asia, recorded an increase in foreign flight searches of almost three times compared to the same period last year.
This increase is in line with data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which states that from January to July 2023, the number of international air transport passengers reached 8.4 million people, an increase of 258.55% compared to the same period in 2022. This also has an impact on the number of transactions on the travel platform.
“Along with this increase, the number of transactions (Traveloka) for international travel in the first semester of 2023 has increased significantly fourfold compared to the first semester of 2022,” said Iko Putera, CEO of Transport, Traveloka in his statement, Wednesday (9/27), 2023.
In addition to increasing interest in overseas travel in general, Traveloka’s internal data also shows a strong increase in interest in travel to Japan. This can be seen in data for the second quarter of 2023, which records that the number of flight transactions to Japan has increased fourfold compared to the same period in 2022.
Meanwhile, for destinations, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo are listed as the five most popular cities by travelers. Seeing this, Traveloka took the initiative to hold the Traveloka Travel Fair again to support the high demand for vacations by offering various attractive offers.

The Traveloka Travel Fair will be held again at the Kota Kasablanka Mall, Jakarta for a week, from 25 September to 1 October 2023, from 10.00 to 21.00 (following the mall’s operational hours).
