INDONESIAN MOTOGP 2023 EVENT BOOST TOURISM PERFORMANCE: ARIE RESPATI

THE 2023 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia (Indonesian GP) will be held again on 13-15 October 2023 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit as one of the mainstay sports tourism events that encourages the performance of the Indonesian tourism sector.

According to the Main Director of the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), Arie Respati, in the “MotoGP 2023” press conference, Tuesday (10/03), 2023 at the Sarinah Building, Jakarta, explained that holding the Indonesian GP or also known as the Mandalika MotoGP 2023 will increase achievements and promotions. Indonesian tourism, especially in the Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara.

“The Mandalika MotoGP for the second time is proof of the commitment of the government and BUMN that the development of this integrated area continues to be sustainable. According to him, this event has become an icon and pride of the NTB community. Therefore, this year’s preparations are much better than before,” he said.

He explained that the successful holding of the Mandalika MotoGP would provide momentum for other tourist destinations. For this reason, we ensure that infrastructure development for this year’s event runs optimally. We ensure that we resolve complaints from last year, such as traffic jams and so on, this year.

“Currently, Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit’s preparations to hold the 2023 Indonesian GP have reached almost 100%. Various preparations have been made, starting from track repairs, marshal readiness, medical center, paddock facilities, grandstand, to inner-circuit,” he said.

Arie Respati added that the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) has also trained marshals who will be on duty during the race. It was recorded that 402 marshals, 95% of whom were local residents, were ready for duty.

For spectators, guests and invitees, the organizers have also prepared the best hospitality, both in the Premier Box room and the VIP Deluxe area. All grandstands have been prepared to accommodate the capacity of each grandstand.

Regarding access to the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Garuda Indonesia provides an additional flight schedule (extra flight schedule) from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) to Lombok International Airport (LOP) and the reverse direction on 12-14 October 2023 and 16-17 October 2023 Garuda Indonesia will provide a total of 68 flight schedules and seven flights with larger aircraft capacity during this period.

A number of zones for side events have also been prepared to enliven the 2023 Indonesian GP around the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, which is divided into the Merdeka Zone, Bhinneka Zone, Tropical Zone and Heritage Zone.

All spectators who have tickets starting from the Festival – General Admission category to the next ticket category, can access the Indonesian GP side event without needing to buy additional tickets.

The opening ceremony for the 2023 Indonesian GP will be filled with a number of performances preceded by the National Anthem Indonesia Raya which will be performed by America’s Got Talent finalist, Putri Ariani.

“Almost 45,000 tickets have been sold and around 15 to 18% of tickets remain. The three main classes (tickets) have already sold out. We hope that in the future people will not only come for MotoGP but can extend or come early to enjoy Mandalika tourism and Lombok,” said Arie Respati.

If last year the MotoGP Parade involving racers was held in Jakarta, this year the activity will be held in Mataram City. Apart from that, racers will also be involved in carrying out coral planting activities as an effort to support sustainable tourism development.
