FOREIGN TOURISTS EXCEEDS INITIAL YEAR TARGET OF 7.4 MILLION VISITS

THE number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia has exceeded the target set in early 2023. in August 2023, foreign tourist visits will reach 1.132 million visits.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, explained that cumulatively, total foreign tourist visits from January-August 2023 reached 7,443,260 visits. This number is up 1.02% compared to July 2023 (mom) and up 68.92% compared to August 2023 (yoy).

“This means that this figure has succeeded in breaking the target of foreign tourist visits at the beginning of the year. That the revival of tourism and the creative economy is starting to be felt and starting to grow. “From the target of 7.4 million foreign tourists at the beginning of the year and revised to 8.5 million foreign tourists by the middle of the year,” he said.

Sandiaga explained that there are still four months left to achieve the target of 8.5 million foreign tourists by the end of the year. I am optimistic that the target of 8.5 million foreign tourists by the end of the year will be significantly exceeded by 15-20 percent or 10 million to 11 million foreign tourist visits.

“Foreign tourists visiting in August 2023 are dominated by Malaysia at 15.43%, Australia 11.39%, and Singapore 9.31%. This increase in visits was mainly recorded at the gates of Ngurah Rai Airport which increased by 280.74% and Soekarno-Hatta Airport which increased by 158.64%. This number of visits is equivalent to 136 percent of total foreign tourist visits throughout 2022. [traveltext.id]
