LAKE TOBA AQUABIKE 2023 WILL GEAR UP NORTH SUMATRA’S ECONOMY

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy is optimistic that the implementation of the Aquabike Jetski World Championship in the Lake Toba area, North Sumatra, will be able to stimulate the economy of the local community.

In the 2023 Aquabike Lake Toba press conference at the Kemenkomarves Office, Central Jakarta recently, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said that the presence of international standard sporting events such as the Aquabike Jetski World Championship is believed to have an economic impact that improves the welfare of local communities. This reflects the implementation of the previous event, namely F1 Powerboat, which recorded profits of up to IDR1.7 trillion for the economy of the community around Lake Toba.

“Moreover, this event will take place in Indonesia every year until 2027. So, from this event it is targeted to achieve 60-70% more profits than F1 Powerboat. We want the impact of organizing this sport to be felt by the entire community. “So, please monitor this by media colleagues, so that everyone can get a little bit of good fortune from an international event,” said Sandiaga.

On this occasion, Sandiaga also invited regional governments, especially the governments of Dairi, Karo, Toba and Samosir districts which are the locations or hosts of the event and related parties, to always strengthen collaboration to make the event a success which will be held on 22-26 November 2023.

“Because this event is also believed to be able to encourage the achievement of the domestic tourist movement target which is set to reach 1.2 billion-1.4 billion movements,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Minister of Youth and Sports Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo said that this championship was a good event to create a culture of water sports among the community.

“The Aquabike Jetski World Championship can open up opportunities for Indonesia’s young generation in the field of jet ski sports. Moreover, Lake Toba being the host is a milestone for Indonesia to promote Lake Toba as an attractive location for water sports,” concluded Dito, his nickname. [traveltext.id]
