Foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in September 2023 based on nationality were dominated by Malaysia with 152,210 visits (14.22%), Australia with 140,057 visits (13.09%), Singapore with 114,713 visits (10.72%), China with 88,758 visits (8.29%), and Timor Leste with 57,560 visits (5.38%).
Meanwhile, based on BPS calculations for the third quarter of 2023, domestic tourist trips in Indonesia reached 192.52 million trips. This number increased by 13.36% compared to the third quarter of 2022 (year-on-year).
Throughout the third quarter, the highest number of foreign tourists’ trips occurred in July 2023, reaching 73.69 million trips. East Java is recorded as the province with the highest number of foreign tourists traveling, both as a region of origin and as a destination for domestic tourists.
“In the January-September 2023 period, the number of foreign tourist trips has increased by 12.81% compared to the same period in 2022, with a total of 626.09 million trips.
