MINAHASA WAKEFEST 2023 INCREASES IN SPORTS TOURISM IN THE COUNTRY

THE HOLDING of “Minahasa Wakefest 2023” on 24-26 November 2023 is expected to strengthen interest in sports tourism in the country. The wakeboard and wakesurf water sports event entitled “Lake Tondano Home for Everyone” will take place at Lake Tondano, North Sulawesi.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in the Weekly Press Briefing in Jakarta, Monday (11/13), 2023, said that this event is the 2023 ASIA series championship from the International Wakesurf and Wakeboard Federation. A total of 13 IWWF members from various parts of Asia will enliven this event. I am optimistic that the event will run smoothly and have a broad impact on the tourism sector and the creative economy of the country, especially through organizing events.

“I congratulate you on holding the Minahasa Wakefest 2023 event. To the participants, enjoy the activities, uphold sportsmanship, maintain health and prioritize safety,” said Sandiaga.

Meanwhile, the Deputy for Tourism Products and Activities Organizer of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Vinsensius Jemadu, said that this activity would strengthen North Sulawesi’s position as a tourism destination. Moreover, in North Sulawesi there is also one of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations, namely Likupang.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy supports ‘Minahasa Wakefest 2023’ by strengthening its promotion through the media we have. During the 7 days before the big day there will be massive promotion for this (event),” Vinsensius Jemadu remarked.

Likewise, the General Chair of Wakefest 2023, Rio Dondokambey, said that preparations for the event had entered the final stage. He hopes that this event can strengthen tourism promotion in Minahasa Regency in particular and North Sulawesi in general.
