MASTERCARD-MRT JAKARTA COLLABORATES TO IMPROVE CASHLESS TRANSPORTATION

MASTERCARD and PT MRT Jakarta, operator of MRT Jakarta facilities and infrastructure, declared their partnership to improve the cashless transportation experience. This significant collaboration was announced at the inauguration of Senayan Mastercard Station, previously known as Senayan Station.

As a strategic partner of MRT Jakarta, Mastercard presents a convenient option to top-up and purchase MRT cards non-cashly for MRT Jakarta users. Now, passengers can top up MRT cards at all MRT counters using Mastercard debit cards.

Passengers also have the option to purchase tickets via the MyMRTJ app using a Mastercard credit card, marking the first-time credit cards are accepted on the app. Additionally, all Mastercard cards can be used to purchase MRT cards at all station counters.

According to Aileen Goh, President Director, PT Mastercard Indonesia, stated, at Mastercard, we utilize our global network and technology to help answer challenges in the public sector, such as through digitalization of vital public services. One of them is transformation in the transportation sector, where Mastercard is working with many partners around the world to provide an accessible transportation experience that will spur an increase in passenger numbers, as well as increase efficiency and innovation.

“The first collaboration between PT MRT Jakarta and Mastercard in Indonesia aims to ensure better and easier access to transportation for residents and tourists in Jakarta, starting with convenient and safe non-cash payments,” said Aileen.

She added, because mobility is an important part of the majority of the population, this initiative can shift consumer behavior towards non-cash payments more massively. Thus, this can create significant change and encourage digital transformation and inclusion.

Meanwhile, Tuhiyat, President Director of PT MRT Jakarta, said that MRT Jakarta continues to encourage cooperation and collaboration in advancing the public transportation system to support people’s lifestyles in various fields.
