OPTIMISTIC THAT BALI WILL BE ABLE TO ATTRACT 7 MILLION FOREIGN TOURISTS BY 2024

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is optimistic that Bali will be able to attract and contribute seven million foreign tourists to Indonesia by the end of 2024.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, at the Bali Tourism Outlook Dinner Meeting in Ubud, Tuesday (01/30) 2024, said that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is targeting 14.3 million foreign tourist visits to Indonesia. As for Bali, as a favorite tourist destination, based on a study conducted by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, it has the aggregate capacity to contribute 50% of the target that has been set.

“In aggregate (tourist visits) in Bali contribute 50% (of the national target of foreign tourist visits). So around seven million,” said Sandiaga.

Therefore, to accelerate this achievement, Sandiaga will strive to increase accessibility to Bali, including by increasing international flights to Bali and presenting unique and attractive tour packages without causing overtourism. So that quality and sustainable tourism can be maintained in Bali.

“It is necessary to increase the number of flights and add travel packages that better distribute tourists who are of better quality and stay here longer so that the economic impact is felt more by local communities without being too burdensome and resulting in overtourism,” he said.

According to Sandiaga, these efforts are expected to accelerate the achievement of the target for the number of foreign tourist visits in 2024. So that the creation of 4.4 million jobs in the tourism and creative sector in 2024 can be achieved.

“The hope is that the revival of tourism in Bali can be even stronger in 2024 and can achieve the target of creating 4.4 million new jobs,” concluded Sandiaga. [traveltext.id]
