TOURISM POLYTECHNIC ADVISORY BOARD BRIDGES INDUSTRY WITH EDUCATION

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy introduced the Tourism Polytechnic Advisory Board Team as an effort to improve the quality of education at the Tourism Polytechnic and create a link and match between vocational education and the industrial world.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno during The Weekly Press Briefing at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday (02/12), 2024), said the Tourism Polytechnic has formed a Poltekpar Advisory Board Team within the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy which has been established through the Decree of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Number SK/106/PS.00.05/MK/2023.

“This team has the function of developing standards and curriculum, building good relationships with industry players and the community to establish effective partnerships, evaluating continuous program improvements, and ensuring quality standards at the Tourism Polytechnic,” he said.

This Advisory Board team consists of various stakeholders, including Tourism Polytechnic alumni, academics and educators, tourism and hospitality industry representatives, training and consulting service providers, local community representatives, as well as tourism and hospitality industry associations.

“I hope that the Tourism Polytechinic Advisory Board Team within the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy can improve the quality of vocational education at Tourism Polytechnic in order to create superior and competitive tourism human resources and increase collaboration between Tourism Polytechnic and all stakeholders in the tourism industry,” Sandiaga stated.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of the Advisory Team, Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego, who is also COO of ARTOTELGroup, explained his strategy by coming directly to the Tourism Polytechnic to hear, see and reduce the gap between industry needs and what is learned at the Tourism Polytechnic so that human resources at the Tourism Polytechnic can become a mainstay for the hotel industry in Indonesia.

“The Advisory Board team has also carried out evaluations and visits to practical laboratory infrastructure. So, that what we have completed can be executed immediately and carried out,” he remarked.

Likewise, the Ministerial Secretary/Main Secretary of the Tourism Ministry, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, explained that 6 Tourism Polytechnics under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy had already had and implemented the ASEAN MRA-TP in one semester and had been evaluated by the Advisory Board. There are only 3 Tourism Polytechnics that have not been evaluated.

“A lot of input has been obtained in order to improve the quality of Tourism Polytechnic. At the ASEAN forum, Indonesia was appreciated for leading the field of increasing human resource capacity. We must set a good example here. That at the ASEAN meeting forum we are the lead so that implementation at the national level must also show our best. This advisory board is committed to supporting the improvement of quality human resources,” Giri noted.

The organizational structure of the Tourism Polytechnic Advisory Board Team is Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno and Angela H. Tanoesoedibjo as Directors.
