BBI AND BBWI 2024 TO INCREASES PURCHASE OF DOMESTIC PRODUCTS

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy has again launched the national movement (Gernas) Bangga Buatan Indonesia (BBI) or Proudly Made in Indonesia and Bangga Berwisata di Indonesia (BBWI) or Proud to Travel in Indonesia in 2024 to increase demand and purchase of domestic products.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno after the national movement of BBI/BBWI Kick Off doorstop at Balairung Soesilo Soedarman, Jakarta, Monday evening (02/26), 2024 explained that on May 14, 2020, President Joko Widodo had launched national movement of BBI to improve demand and purchase of domestic products by the public and government.

“The national movement of BBWI’s target is 1.25 billion-1.5 billion movements of domestic tourists, and there is interesting data that it turns out that foreign tourists are high spenders with expenditures reaching 3.8 million in one trip, this really supports our tourism ecosystem and creative economy,” he said.

Based on data, in a period of approximately 3.5 years (14 May 2020-September 2023), there was an increase in the number of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with digital onboarding reaching 14.9 million units from the previous 8 million units. And to date, the total number of MSMEs with digital onboarding has reached 22.9 million units or an increase of 186%.

“The government is targeting an increase in economic growth of around 1.67-1.71% from affirmative action on spending on domestic products with a minimum spending value of IDR400 trillion. In 2023, as much as 95% of the central and regional government budget will be for domestic products. Increased tourist visits to local destinations to 1.2 billion-1.4 billion trips,” Sandiaga remarked.

The BBI affirmative action is an opportunity for cooperatives and MSMEs to take advantage of business development opportunities, so that they are encouraged to really make the best use of the program.

However, when he asked about the correlation between the previous ministry’s program #DiIndonesiaAja, or just in Indonesia program, Sandiaga immediately answered, yes, the Bangga Berwisata di Indonesia or Proud to Travel in Indonesia and #DiIndonesiaAja programs both are to call for people to travel only within the country, without explaining in further detail.

In fact, the more the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy creates more programs through national movements that are actually the same, it will actually make people confused. The worst thing is now being told to just travel in Indonesia, but airplane ticket prices are still hike. [traveltext.id]
