TOURISM MINISTRY AND AJC DISCUSSES SUSTAINABLE TOURISM COOPERATION

DURING a series of working visits to Japan, the Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy held a meeting with the Secretary General of ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC), Dr. Kunihiko Chris Hirabayashi to explore cooperation in tourism development, especially sustainable tourism.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, during his visit to the ASEAN-Japan Center office in Tokyo, Monday (03/4), 2024, said that Indonesia is boosting the development of the tourism and creative economy sectors with the concept of green and sustainable tourism.

“So, Indonesia hopes to work together with AJC to share best practices related to sustainable tourism and rural tourism,” said Sandiaga.

Sandiaga explained that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is also developing tourist villages as one of its main programs. One of the activities that will be implemented this year is the ASEAN Tourism Village to promote and increase the empowerment of tourist villages.

“Indonesia hopes that AJC can provide support for organizing the ASEAN Tourism Village. “We also offer opportunities for capacity building cooperation to support the acceleration of the national games industry,” he stated.

Sandiaga added that Indonesia had just formalized Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 19 of 2024 concerning the Acceleration of Development of the National Games Industry. Therefore, we offer opportunities for capacity building cooperation to support the acceleration of the national games industry.

Meanwhile Secretary General of ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC), Dr. Kunihiko Chris Hirabayashi, said that currently the younger generation is interested in health and wellness issues, so that the combination of health and wellness tourism will become increasingly popular in the future.

“Indonesia and AJC can work together to conduct research to determine appropriate market segmentation for health and wellness tourism that supports sustainable tourism,” Kunihiko remarked.

Kunihiko concluded that AJC is interested in supporting the holding of the ASEAN Creative Economy Business Forum (ACEBF) 2024. And we hope to get details of activities to identify speakers or experts that are in accordance with the theme of ACEBF 2024. [traveltext.id]
