MINISTRY LAUNCHES TOURISM MASTERPLAN DOCUMENT FOR PRIORITY DESTINATIONS

According to Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno during “The Final Episode of Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno” at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, on Monday (10/14), 2024, the tourist destinations include the Tekaan Telu Waterfall in Tomohon City, which is a buffer zone for the Likupang Super Priority Destination (SPD), the Cemara Shiu Geopark Rinjani in East Lombok Regency, which supports the Mandalika SPD, and the Dodola Island in Morotai Island Regency, which is part of the Morotai Priority Destination. Kumala Island in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, which is a buffer zone for the IKN.

“The tourist attraction masterplan, which has been prepared since May 2024, is expected to create a quality and sustainable destination. We hope to further develop this masterplan and I appreciate the team of experts from Sam Ratulangi University Manado, De La Salle Catholic University Manado, Mataram University of West Nusa Tenggara and P2Par ITB, as well as the local government and private sector who have contributed to the preparation of this master plan,” Sandiaga said.

Meanwhile, Budi Faisal, head of the Center for Tourism Planning and Development at Bandung Institute of Technology, said the process of preparing the masterplan involved the central government, provincial government, district and city governments, community leaders and also business associations.

“This is the most important thing, in the process we are involving everyone in the preparation of this masterplan for the tourist attraction,” Budi affirmed.

Likewise, Muhammad Juaini Taofik, the acting regent of East Lombok, said that this tourist attraction master plan is expected to increase the number of tourist visits in East Lombok.

“We are grateful, after our area was designated as a super priority destination, from the statistics of tourist visits in 2023, it was more than 53 thousand. Now, at the end of September, we have reached more than 94 thousand extraordinary visits. Alhamdulillah, with the completion of this master plan, we will be more enthusiastic to increase it,” Taofik said.

Taofik will use this tourist attraction master plan to develop tourism facilities in Cemara Shiu to develop Rinjani Geopark as a quality, competitive and sustainable tourism destination.

“Rinjani is part of the geopark for the development of nature-based tourism and culture. Therefore, we are committed to use this master plan for the development of tourism facilities in Cemara Shiu,” he emphasized.

In addition, Fereydy Kaligis, acting mayor of Tomohon, said that with this master plan for tourism attractions, Tomohon Municipality will focus on providing facilities to support the Tekaan Telu waterfall area.

“We plan to work with the private sector to provide existing facilities, and of course with the support of the Tomohon Municipality. This area has potential because it is also close to the catchment area of Tomohon City, with a view of Manado City Bay,” Fereydy added.

Fereydy also plans to create a tourist destination in Tomohon City that is environmentally friendly and sustainable.

“And also friendly to people with disabilities. Because we are planning, if possible, if the land structure allows it, to have a cable car so that (friends) with disabilities can enjoy it. So, it is inclusive, an inclusive destination,” Fareydy concluded. [traveltext.id]
