GARUDA INDONESIA PASSENGER LOAD FACTOR TO BALI REACHES 80%

GARUDA Indonesia’s (GIAA) passenger load factor to Bali has reached 80% for both domestic and international routes throughout 2024.

According to the Group Head Marketing of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIAA), Arsena Permasadhie said that the passenger occupancy rate was almost evenly distributed in all routes, for international routes, flights from Narita, Japan-Bali, then from Melbourne-Bali, Korea-Bali are favorite rites with consistent occupancy rates at 80%.

He explained that the high passenger load factor on international routes shows that Bali is still a popular destination for foreign tourists. Garuda has 14 direct international routes from Sydney, Melbourne, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai Narita, Haneda, Amsterdam, Jeddah, Medina, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur to Singapore and is also connected to more than 160 countries through partner airlines.

“We provide many choices of international routes, not only for tourists coming to Bali, but also for Balinese people who want to travel abroad,” explained Arsena on the sidelines of the Garuda Indonesia Travel Festival (GITF) quoted Monday (10/28), 2024)

Arsena also added that the domestic route to Bali’s occupancy rate is not inferior to international routes, such as the Jakarta-Bali route, then from Surabaya, Yogyakarta and several other cities in the country. According to Arsena, Garuda has connected 38 provinces from Aceh to Papua.

For the Christmas and New Year holidays, Garuda expects an increase in the number of passengers to Bali, both from international and domestic routes. Arsena said that Bali will be one of the most popular destinations during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

For information, passenger movements at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in the third quarter of 2024 were 17.98 million passengers or an increase of 14% compared to the same period in 2023, which was 15.8 million passengers. By the end of 2024, Angkasa Pura is targeting 23.6 million passengers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

If we look at the comparison between domestic and international passengers, by 2024, Ngurah Rai Airport will serve 59% of international passengers, explained that as a world tourist destination, passengers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali are still dominated by international route passengers, namely 10.5 million and the remaining 7.4 million or 41% are domestic flight passengers.
