THE GOVERNMENT of the Republic of Indonesia has officially increased the entrance fee for National Parks under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment. The decision was formalized in Government Regulation Number 36 of 2024, signed by President Joko Widodo on September 30, 2024. The following national parks have seen an increase in entrance fees: Komodo National Park, Mount Bromo, Mount Gede Pangrango National Park, Mount Rinjani National Park, and Ijen Crater.
One of the items addressed in the PP is the tariff for flying drones in these locations. The rise in entrance fees for several tourist attractions has attracted public interest. The price increase is significant in comparison to the previous fee. According to multiple sources, the following five national parks have the highest entrance fees:
1. Mount Bromo
The considerable expense is justified by the beauty and fame of Bromo. This national park is one of the most expensive in Indonesia. The entrance fee is set at IDR. The cost is IDR54,000 on weekdays and IDR79,000 on national holidays. The price for foreign tourists is set at IDR255,000. Please note that a fee of IDR2,000,000 applies for the use of drones.
2. Komodo National Park
The Komodo National Park, located in East Nusa Tenggara, is the second most expensive national park in Indonesia for a single visit. The entrance fee for a visitor on a weekday is IDR50,000, while the entrance fee for a visitor on a national holiday is IDR75,000. The fee for foreign visitors is IDR250,000, applicable on weekdays and national holidays.
3. Tanjung Puting National Park
Please be advised that the entrance ticket for this tourist spot has increased, as reported on the BTN Tanjung Puting page. In accordance with the submitted announcement, the entrance fee for local tourists is set at IDR50,000 on weekdays and 150 times the normal price for visits on holidays. The fee for foreign tourists is set at IDR250,000. Students are eligible for a discounted rate of just IDR 25,000.
4. Mount Gede Pangrango
Located in Bogor, West Java is also subject to the highest fees due to the increase set by the government in October 2024. Please note that Indonesian citizens are required to pay an entrance fee of IDR22,000, while foreign nationals are required to pay IDR205,000 to visit Mount Gede. Students are eligible for the lowest price entrance ticket to the tourist area, which is IDR17,000.
5. Baluran National Park
Baluran National Park is known as Savana Van Java, due to its resemblance to the savannahs of Africa. In addition to offering views of the African savanna, this national park also features the natural panorama of a nearby beach. Please note that the entrance fee for this location was previously set at IDR16,500 on weekdays and IDR18,600 on holidays.
The entrance fee for foreign nationals was set at IDR150,000 on weekdays and IDR225,000 on holidays. Please note that vehicle parking fees are not included in the ticket price. The cost of parking a motorcycle is IDR5,000, while the cost of parking a car is IDR 10,000.
Following the price increase, the entrance fee to Baluran National Park is now IDR21,000 on weekdays and IDR31,000 on holidays. Foreign nationals are required to pay a ticket price of IDR205,000. [sources/photo special]
