THE MOVEMENT of tourists in various regions of the country has begun to show an increase along with the ongoing Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays, so it must be well anticipated by all parties by providing excellent and inclusive services for all tourists.
According to the Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana in her statement, Sunday (12/22), 2024, said excellent and inclusive services will strengthen the image of Indonesian tourism as a leading destination that is widely known for its stunning natural beauty, diverse cultural richness and the friendliness of its people.
“Indonesian tourism is one of the world’s great powers with the values of diversity in it. This is what we must continue to strengthen and maintain in order to provide a quality and sustainable experience for tourists,” Widiyanti said.
One form of this inclusiveness is the provision of additional services tailored to the characteristics and service needs of tourists, including Muslim tourists, who are one of the largest niche markets in the world.
Indonesia has great potential, which has even been calibrated with the achievement of the “Top Muslim Friendly Destination of the Year 2024” award in the Mastercard Crescentrating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI).
The concept of Muslim-friendly tourism also needs to be well understood by all stakeholders. Namely, the provision of additional services designed to meet the basic needs of Muslim tourists without changing the character of the destination.
“Supporting services and facilities such as halal food, prayer facilities such as comfortable and complete prayer rooms such as prayer schedules, Qibla directions and others. By fulfilling these services, it is hoped that inclusive services will be provided without changing the main characteristics of the destination,” she affirmed.
The Ministry of Tourism has already published a guideline for basic Muslim-friendly tourism services, which can be used as a reference for the industry.
The same was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa. Inclusive tourism must be presented in all destinations in the country without changing the characteristics and even become a strength for the attractiveness of the destination.
“Like Bali, whose strength lies in culture. So in any case, Balinese tourism is tourism based on culture, then also on nature and its environment,” said Ni Luh Puspa.
Ni Luh Puspa then invited all parties to use the Christmas and New Year holidays as one of the great moments in the tourism sector to provide excellent and comprehensive services to tourists. [traveltext.id]
