THE MINISTRY of Creative Economy and Artotel Group (AG) have agreed to cooperate by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote Indonesian games during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays.

Secretary of the Minister of Creative Economy/Sestama Bekraf, Dessy Ruhati, with the Director/COO of PT Artotel Indonesia (AG), Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego. This collaboration is packaged in the form of a program titled Re(Kreasi) Lokal, which presents local games made in Indonesia to be played in the Artotel Group’s hotel network.

In the Re(Kreasi) Lokal program, Artotel Group provides a set of gaming devices in the form of a PlayStation 5 with a variety of local games made in Indonesia that guests can choose from to support Indonesian game makers. A set of these devices will be available in one of the best room types or in public areas such as the lobby, which guests can play at no additional cost and enjoy as much as they want, whenever they want, during their stay.

Some of the hotels participating in this program are ARTOTEL Thamrin Jakarta, ARTOTEL TS Suites Surabaya, ARTOTEL Sanur Bali, ROOMS Inc D’Botanica Bandung and ROOMS INC Semarang. As for the various game options available, namely Knight vs. Giant: The Broken Excalibur, Petit Island, A Space for The Unbound, Cats and Seek: Osaka, Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2, Dreadout 2, Coral Island, Potion Permit, Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly, which were specially curated by the Indonesian Game Association team for this local re(creation) program.

According to the Acting Secretary of the Minister of Creative Economy/Sestama Bekraf Dessy Ruhati, explained that through this collaboration it is hoped to create a creative economy ecosystem, especially the games sub-sector, in the form of increasing exposure of local Indonesian games, creating added value for the games industry, and promoting synergy between local game developers, the government and the private sector.

“So that actors in the creative economy can create and innovate optimally. Because it is not impossible for us to realize Indonesia’s vision as a world creative center and become a new magnet for ARTOTEL visitors to get to know Indonesian games,” Dessy affirmed.

The signing of this agreement is also expected to create a strong synergy between the Ministry of Creative Economy and the Artotel Group. In addition to bringing significant benefits to both parties, it will also make a positive contribution to the development of the creative industry in Indonesia.

Dessy added that earlier on December 20, 2024, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency together with the Artotel Group had launched the Jalan Jalan Lokal (JJL) application. The application is expected to promote the digitalization of the local creative economy, enhance business collaboration and access to financing, support local business players, improve logistics efficiency, and serve as a form of digital supply chain support for hotel industry players.

“It didn’t take long, this collaboration was immediately continued with the signing of the MoU today, where Artotel Group immediately took concrete steps by promoting Indonesian games during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays,” Dessy noted.

Meanwhile, the Director of PT Artotel Indonesia/COO of Artotel Group, Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego, expressed his pride to be able to participate in the advancement of the creative economy sector in Indonesia, especially for games.

“We hope this cooperation will continue, we have many programs that can be discussed, hopefully more will be added. Hopefully the creative economy can become a new engine of growth, and this is what we have been waiting for from this industry,” Eduard said.

Likewise, the president of the Indonesian Game Association, Shafiq Husein, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Creative Economy for the opportunity to showcase Indonesian games.

“This is a new milestone for our fellow game developers to inform the public that Indonesian games have many genres, different and diverse styles,” said Shafiq.

Shafiq hopes that the signed MoU can be a good starting point for other future collaborations, both in terms of games and other sub-sectors of the creative industry.

“I hope that Indonesia’s creative industry will continue to grow and together we will build this country into a Golden Indonesia,” Shafiq concluded. [traveltext.id]
