INVESTMENT and Downstreaming Policy Minister, Rosan Roelani expected Indonesia to receive IDR13,032 trillion (US$805.73 billion) in investments throughout the 2025-2029 period.
The investment target was announced following Roeslani’s meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace on Thursday (01/02), 2025. During the meeting, the minister also reported the ministry’s five-year work plan to the president.
“We expect investments in Indonesia to provide more quality jobs and, at the same time, help bolster economic growth,” he stated.
The minister emphasized that the government aims for Rp1,905 billion (US$117.78 billion) in investments for 2025 while projecting a target of Rp3,413 trillion (US$211.02 billion) for 2029 when Indonesia expects to achieve an economic growth rate of eight percent.
He noted that achieving the investment target will necessitate collaboration among 18 ministries alongside the Investment and Downstreaming Ministry to enhance their coordination and cooperation efforts.
Meanwhile, Roeslani revealed that during his meeting with President Prabowo, he discussed strategies to increase the contribution of investments to Indonesia’s GDP, which currently stands at 24-25%.
Roeslani also mentioned briefing the president on the outcome of his working visit to China last week, noting that Indonesia secured investment commitments totaling US$7.46 billion from four Chinese companies.
“We also push companies investing in Indonesia to start their investments immediately. For instance, BYD has begun purchasing land in Subang (West Java), and we expect their investments in the manufacturing sector will begin next year,” the minister stated while referring to the Chinese car company.
Moreover, Roeslani revealed that US technology giant Apple will provide details on its investment realization in Indonesia next week.
He noted that Apple representatives would visit Indonesia on January 7, 2025, and announce the realization of the investment plan on Tuesday. On the same day, Apple will also meet with Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.
He, however, was reluctant to provide further details about the value of Apple’s investment and the company’s plan to build a factory in Indonesia. [antaranews]
