BALI AIRPORT TO BE EQUIPPED WITH ATRS TECHNOLOGY, ADVANCED AND STYLISH

I GUSTI Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali will be equipped with new technology to facilitate passenger services. PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, which operates the Bali airport, will install the Automated Tray Returned System (ATRS) or technology to speed up the inspection of goods.

The use of this technology follows in the footsteps of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng and specifically in Bali will be prioritized in the international terminal.

“When using the existing equipment, one hour can only be 200 people, but with ATRS it can be 500 people in an hour,” said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, Faik Fahmi recently.

The difference is in the new technology, passengers do not need to carry bags, take out laptops or mineral water.

Faik Fahmi said that the airport operator is installing sophisticated technology at the Security Check Point (SCP) along with the expansion of the area. This will be a new innovation to increase the capacity of visitors.

“Even if there are items that need to be checked by Avsec, the line will be separated so as not to obstruct those behind it. For example, if they need to be checked again, they will immediately move to a special row that is normally straight, this has already been implemented at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and has greatly improved the processing time,” Faik Fahmi affirmed.

PT Angkasa Pura also designed the innovation to encourage airport users to have more time before the plane takes off. By reducing the time from arrival to sitting in the departure terminal, there is potential for them to shop in the commercial area. Airport operators have also begun to digitize and use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to read every movement.

He explained that there are three things they are focusing on. First, to prepare the infrastructure according to the needs. Second, ensuring that the management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is based on digitalization and uses advanced technology. Third, preparing special training for its human resources, considering that the use of new technologies will be quite complicated.

Faik Fahmi has not confirmed how much time can be reduced when the whole system is installed, especially the replacement of the goods scanner with four ATSR units.

However, they believe that this innovation will have a positive impact, as the trial was successful at Indonesia’s largest airport. [antaranews/photo special]
