BOY THOHIR TO BUILD SAFARI PARK IN IKN, 225 HECTARES OF LAND HAS BEEN PREPARED

BUSINESSMAN Garibaldi Thohir (Boy Thohir) and his consortium have ensured that the construction of the Safari Park in the Indonesian capital (IKN), East Kalimantan, will start no later than the end of 2025. The government has also prepared 225 hectares of land for this project.

“Today I received Mr. Garibaldi (Boy) Thohir to ensure the construction of the Safari Park with his consortium in IKN. He expressed his determination that the construction will begin no later than the end of this year and will last for the next 2-3 years,” said the head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, in Jakarta, Friday (02/7), 2025.

The construction of the safari park aims to be an educational tourist destination regarding the diversity of Indonesian animals. A team from Taman Safari Indonesia visited the site to ensure its readiness and suitability.

Investment in IKN continues
Agung Wicaksono, OIKN’s Deputy for Funding and Investment, emphasized that investors in IKN remain committed to the agreed timeline. An important point is the investors’ commitment to start construction no later than 18 months after the signing of the agreement.

He also added that flexibility in the schedule is still needed to ensure the quality of the project from design to implementation. OIKN will continue to monitor the development of the project to ensure that it remains on target.

Currently, the focus of development in the Core Government Center Area (KIPP) is in Development Area (DA) 1A, where the infrastructure is ready.

“Investor interest has also started to expand to WP 1B and 1C, although the basic infrastructure in the area is still under construction,” Agung affirmed.

With the start of construction of Taman Safari in IKN, it is hoped that this area can become an educational tourism destination, enriching the ecosystem of the new capital city and attracting more investment to the Nusantara region. [katadata.co.id/photo special]
