MINISTER of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, invited Ireland to cooperate in various creative economy activities, one of which is music. This was conveyed by the Minister of Creative Economy while attending the celebration of Ireland’s National Day or Saint Patrick’s Day at the residence of the Irish Ambassador in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
According to Riefky, said the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Ireland since 1984 has been very important for the growth of the creative economy (Ekraf) in Indonesia.
“We are grateful to be invited to participate in the celebration of Irish cultural heritage such as St. Patrick’s Day. This is more than just a celebration as it is a reminder that identity is not only formed from our origins, but also from the values we uphold and the long-standing relationship. This proves that the bond between Indonesia and Ireland is so strong that it is not just a diplomatic task, but can work together in the future,” said Riefky.
In terms of cooperation in the music subsector, the Minister of Creative Economy believes that Indonesia and Ireland can explore cooperation in music production that combines traditional and modern elements. This collaboration can be done through festivals, musician exchanges, and training initiatives in digital distribution, music rights management, and production techniques between the countries.
“Although Indonesia and Ireland have different cultures, our creative industries speak the same language. Let’s take music as an example. Not long ago, we celebrated National Music Day, which marks the strength and great potential of the Indonesian music industry. As we know, Ireland has also produced legendary musicians such as U2, Westlife, The Cranberries, The Corrs and others. We need to build momentum and move from admiration to a form of cooperation,” Riefky affirmed.
Minister Riefky also hailed creativity and culture as a form of resilience to maintain the unity and hope of a nation. Hopefully, the friendship between Indonesia and Ireland will continue to grow in trade, creativity and other programs that can be collaborated later.
Meanwhile, the Irish Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Padraig Francis, welcomed the presence of Minister Riefky to maintain international relations not only through celebrations, but also by creating a world-class music festival.
“We are committed to building closer ties with Indonesia. There is always an opportunity if we respond constructively and cooperatively, building understanding and optimizing shared potential. For example, by developing music and culture in the future. It is in this spirit that we will continue to work with Indonesia to build a better world,” Francis concluded. [traveltext.id]
