THE AIRLINE, Garuda Indonesia, continues to strengthen the acceleration of the company’s performance through the optimization of production facilities towards the end of 2025.
This is in line with the growth projection of the air transport sector, which is expected to continue to recover in the next few years, Garuda Indonesia has set a target to have 100 fleets by the end of 2025. This is an important step for Garuda Indonesia to support operational development and provide better services to passengers.
According to Director of Garuda Indonesia, Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan, explained that the optimization of this fleet was done by taking into account various factors. One of them is transparent management based on the principle of Good Corporate Governance (GCG), market demand and overall company performance.
“In 2024 became an important milestone for Garuda Indonesia in showing significant recovery, successfully carried 23.67 million passengers, an increase of 18.54% compared to the previous year. This increase was in line with an increase in flight frequency by 12.21%, which was recorded as many as 163,271 flights in 2024,” he said.
Wamildan added that the optimism for the addition of this fleet was driven by the performance of revenue from scheduled flights recorded an increase of 15.32% to US$2.74 billion. In addition, revenue from charter operations also soared to 101.06%, which contributed significantly to non-scheduled revenue.
However, despite the positive performance, Garuda Indonesia still recorded a net loss of US $ 69.78 million, which was caused by several factors such as aircraft maintenance expenses and other lower revenues affected by the absence of extraordinary items such as in 2023.
“Although we face a number of challenges, such as foreign exchange fluctuations, supply chain issues and increasingly fierce competition, Garuda Indonesia remains optimistic about the strategic steps we are taking, including fleet expansion and improving service quality,” he said in an official statement recently.
Since the end of 2024, Garuda Indonesia has introduced two Boeing 737-800NG aircraft, and in the second quarter of 2025, two similar additional aircraft will soon join the fleet to support domestic and international routes. [sources/photo special]
