IN COMMEMORATION of World Autism Day, Ra SUITES Simatupang Jakarta in cooperation with MATALESOGE hospitABLElity Academy held a photography and painting art exhibition with the theme ‘THE RUPA MATA AUTISME’ by training participants from MATALESOGE hospitABLElity Academy. This art exhibition is open to the public from April 11 to 21, 2025 at the lobby of Hotel Ra Suites Simatupang Jakarta.
This photography and painting art exhibition is also a form of implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program initiated by Hotel Ra Suites Simatupang. The training participants who participated in this exhibition were Gamal Zahar, Mario Badril, Diego Luister Berel, Anindhita Kirana Isa, Farah Dilla Fahira, Kevin Lokenga Lobota, Nicole Nigella Hilman and Kayla Viski Sharlana. Although they have developmental disabilities (neurodevelopmental and Down syndrome), this does not prevent them from continuing to hone their skills, especially in the field of art.
According to Angkoso B. Soekadari, Chief Operating Officer, Ra Hospitality said through this art exhibition, especially with individuals with special needs or people with disabilities. Ra Suites Simatupang Jakarta in this case is consistent in always supporting and making our hotel network friendly for individuals with special needs, one of which is through the art exhibition that we are currently holding.
“We hope that art lovers can enjoy their works of art, both photos and paintings, and make them an inspiration that disability is not a reason not to develop skills,” he said.
The works displayed in this exhibition depict human life that is full of color and aesthetic nature. The characteristics of the photos and paintings are all created with sharp shots of photos and painting colors with classic palette knives and brushes.
“Here we can see and explore the beauty of his artwork, especially contemporary art, through photographs and paintings on cultural, social, or events he experienced himself. There are about 32 works consisting of 20 photos and 12 paintings with different themes,” Angkoso said.
Meanwhile, Tommy Hermanses, as the founder of MATALESOGE hospitABLElity Academy, expressed his gratitude to Hotel Ra Suites Simatupang Jakarta for providing an opportunity for our training participants to exhibit their works through this photo and painting exhibition.
“Here we can see and explore the beauty of his artwork, especially contemporary art through photo shots and paintings that are based on culture, social or events he experienced himself. The works have different themes such as: Burning Forest, Abstract of Lovers, Abstract x K-Pop, Liquify # 1, Our Earth, Lolly Pop, Africa and many more.
He explained that the 32 works of photography and painting, here they can show their never-say-die spirit against their limitations. This is what we should appreciate and cherish.
However, when he asked how they can feel confident with their artwork? Tommy replied that the most important thing is acceptance, because by being accepted by their own families and society, it can help them increase their self-confidence. That’s why we can see in their works that with our sense of acceptance, they can produce and are able to create works that are the same as normal people.
