RI, THE FIRST AS-PAC COUNTRY LAUNCHED A TOURISM INVESMENT GUIDELINE

INDONESIA (RI), in collaboration with UN Tourism, has become the first country in the Asia-Pacific (As-Pac) region to launch a tourism investment guide entitled “Tourism Doing Business: Investing in Indonesia”. Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana and UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili recently launched the program.

On this occasion, Tourism Minister, Widiyanti expressed his appreciation to UN Tourism and all stakeholders who have worked together to create this investment guide.

“This joint synergy is important to preserve natural and cultural heritage and to open up opportunities that benefit the community, the economy and the environment,” said Minister Widiyanti.

The investment guide “Tourism Doing Business: Investing in Indonesia” is expected to provide a comprehensive guide to investing in Indonesia’s tourism sector to help potential investors, both domestic and foreign, explore investment opportunities.

Compiled based on in-depth research, the guidelines include; the picture of the global and national economy, trends and investment flows (including green investment and startup), Indonesia’s values and competitive propositions at the global level, legal and tax framework for investors, concrete investment opportunities in leading destinations, and strategic recommendations.

Overall, this guide aims to provide answers to potential investors in the related tourism sector; legal and tax procedures, tourism investment with sustainable concepts, economic analysis and FDI trends, investment opportunity maps in various provinces, incentive and licensing schemes, as well as start-up profiles and business cooperation models.

This policy also details Indonesia’s policy in supporting low carbon development and sustainable tourism projects. The policy is outlined through several strategies, such as; Long-Term Strategy for Low Carbon and Climate Resilience 2050 (LTS-LCCR 2050), and financing through Green Bonds and Green Sharia Bonds (Green Sukuk or indicate ownership of an asset).

Meanwhile the Secretary-General of UN Tourism, Zurab Pololikashvili, said that the investment guide “Tourism Doing Business: Investing in Indonesia” is the first investment guideline in Asia and the Pacific. This guideline is an important step for UN Tourism and Indonesia as investment is one of the priorities for tourism development.

“There are many priorities that need to be done, but especially investment is very important in this region and Indonesia has many things to offer, many places, many opportunities,” Zurab concluded. [traveltext.id]
