HUNDREDS of thousands of tourists entered Bali in early 2025, but the occupancy of the hotel experienced a question mark. Allegedly, this “stealth tourist” stayed in the illegal accommodation of his colleague who is also a foreigner, such as villa and homestay.
In response, a coordination meeting was held recently at the Bali Provincial Tourism Office to optimize the regulation and supervision of the accommodation sector in Bali Province.
The meeting also discussed villas, hotels to homestays that are said to have no tourism permit will be data collection. This way, tourist accommodation in Bali can be registered so that it can provide income to the region.
According to Rizki Handayani Mustafa, Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism, his party is reviewing official data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the National Consumer Protection Agency (BKPN) regarding unofficial or licensed accommodations in Bali.
According to him, there are still differences in data in this area, so the identification of unlicensed accommodation is still needed. Regarding data collection, coordination will be carried out and agreed upon together with the regional and central government.
“Regarding unofficial accommodation, we only have BPS and BKPN data, which we are checking because there are differences in the field. There are thousands of differences and the identification is still being done,” Rizky explained.
Regarding the management of accommodation licenses with OSS, which is suspected to be the uncontrolled cause of development in Bali, he also said that it has been identified and will be submitted to the BKPN.
“OSS is aimed at making it easier, but in the field, there are several cases, so it needs to be discussed again. Like KBLI, when we see the settlement is for housing. The licensing is not wrong, but the use is wrong, so it needs to be monitored,” he added.
So, in the future this data collection settings are completed, accommodation that has not been licensed will be directed to take care of permits or registered for tourism accommodation. In this way, the amount of tourist accommodation in Bali can be mapped.
Meanwhile, head of Bali tourism office, Tjokorda Bagus Pemayun said Bali already has a regulation related to how buildings and so on. Of course, this will be the attention of the provincial government of Bali to crack down on such things.
“Because after all foreign tourists come to Bali, I mentioned how we see the beauty of Bali, the person and its culture. The culture is in the sense of all the buildings and so on,” completed Tjok Pemayun. [tribun-bali.com/photo traveltext.id]
