INDONESIA RELIABLE INFRASTRUCTURE DEV’T PARTNER: SUGIONO

FOREIGN Minister Sugiono has said that Indonesia has proven itself to be a reliable partner in infrastructure development, both at home and abroad.

“The Indonesian government and firms have also been actively contributing to various infrastructure projects abroad, mostly in the Global South,” he informed at the International Conference on Infrastructure (ICI), which was followed online from Jakarta on Thursday.

According to the minister, Indonesia has participated in several projects abroad, including the development of a metro overpass system in the Philippines, offshore projects in Senegal and Mauritania, bridges in Taiwan, and housing in Algeria.

These projects demonstrate the global reach and competitiveness of Indonesian state-owned companies through the “State-Owned Enterprises Go Global” initiative, he said.

The initiative refers to a strategic plan to strengthen and expand the presence of Indonesian SOEs in the international arena, with the aim of increasing global competitiveness and driving economic growth.

Sugiono further said that in 2019, Indonesia initiated the Indonesia-Africa Infrastructure Dialogue, which resulted in significant opportunities based on inclusive collaboration.

“I think with Danantara as the new vehicle, this effort can also be expanded to cover more parts of the Global South,” he added.

Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) is a strategic investment management agency established by the Indonesian government to manage and optimize state investments, especially from state-owned enterprises (BUMN).

Danantara’s goal is to support national economic growth through more efficient and integrated management of state assets. [antaranews]
