THE MINISTER of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, On Tuesday, October 7, 2025 accepted an invitation from the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, to attend the “Strategic Cultural Dialogue” forum in Paris. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France in the fields of culture and the creative economy. The Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, also attended the meeting.
It was a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that the two ministries signed in Jakarta last May during President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Indonesia. The Minister of Creative Economy’s attendance was also part of a series of activities for the state visit of the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who was a guest of honor at the 2025 Bastille Day celebrations.
Fifteen representatives from various French associations and creative industry players in the film, gaming, fashion, music, publishing, and performing arts sectors attended the meeting, as well as organizations focused on cultural management, such as museums and heritage preservation.
On this occasion, Minister Teuku Riefky conveyed three main points. First, he emphasized the importance of a shared commitment to implementing concrete programs to strengthen the creative economy ecosystems of both countries.
Second, he proposed five initiatives to follow up on the MoU, including capacity development, talent exchange, and policy research collaboration. Third, he emphasized Indonesia’s desire to learn from France’s experience in formulating strong, inclusive creative economy policies and regulatory instruments.
In the film sector, the Indonesian delegation visited the headquarters of the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC) and met with the CNC president and other senior experts for direct discussions. In the field of animation, the delegation will engage in dialogue with the Gobelins School, a world-renowned institution.
Concrete follow-up actions from this visit include the following: (1) strengthening the wise creative economy through joint research on film sector policy development, including institutional and earmark tax policy studies, (2) strengthening creative economy talent through training with French institutions and technical assistance from the CNC in the film and video game sectors, and (3) strengthening creative economy synergy to build networks between Indonesian and French creative industry players.
Overall, this meeting reflects a shared commitment to advancing the creative economy sector as a pillar of President Prabowo’s cultural and economic diplomacy. [traveltext.id]
