DESPITE controversy and initially negative news reports, PT Indonesia Airlines Holding emphasized that its establishment as a national airline is more than just talk. On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the company officially announced its significant achievement of obtaining four air transport standard certificates from the relevant authorities, covering both domestic and international services.
Based on Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning the enactment of the Job Creation Government Regulation In lieu of Law (Perppu) into law, the Indonesian government issued the following certificates: (1). SS-AUNB Number 07072501223410001 – Domestic Scheduled Commercial Air Transportation (passengers and/or cargo), (2). SS-AUNB Number 07072501223410002 – International Scheduled Commercial Air Transportation (passengers and/or cargo), (3). SS-AUNTB Number 07072501223410004 – International Non-Scheduled Commercial Air Transportation (passengers and/or cargo), (4). SS-AUNTB Number 07072501223410005 – Other Non-Scheduled Commercial Air Transportation.
The Minister of Investment and Downstream Development/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) signed all certificates on behalf of the Indonesian Minister of Transportation.
According to Iskandar, the CEO of PT Indonesia Airlines Holding, said these certificates are concrete evidence that Indonesia Airlines has been established in accordance with national aviation laws and regulations.
He also refuted hoax allegations previously made by Ministry of Transportation officials.
“We emphasize that Indonesia Airlines is not a figment of the imagination. Our establishment process followed regulations. We deeply regret the ‘hoax’ accusation, as it could harm investment in the national aviation sector,” Iskandar said in an official statement received Sunday (July 20).
The statement responded to one made by Lukman F. Laisa, the Director General of Civil Aviation, on May 23, 2025. Laisa called Indonesia Airlines’ plans “a pipe dream.”
According to Iskandar, the licensing and technical preparation processes have been gradual and transparent. Having recently returned from a trip to several countries to explore strategic partnerships with lessors, aircraft manufacturers, and major global airlines, Iskandar stated his readiness to engage in direct dialogue with the Ministry of Transportation, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between regulators and industry players.
“We are opening the door to communication as widely as possible. It’s time for the public to receive accurate information, not just assumptions,” he emphasized.
Indonesia Airlines is designed to serve international routes with a modern fleet and premium service. The airline is committed to strengthening interregional connectivity, tourism, and the creative economy.
With the vision of becoming a “global symbol of Indonesian sincerity and elegance” and the mission of providing safe, warm travel typical of Indonesian hospitality, Indonesia Airlines aims to become a new icon for the national aviation industry.
Regarding the soft launch schedule, Iskandar stated that they are awaiting the finalization of the brand ambassador schedule with Booking Entertainment partners and New York concert promoters. The brand ambassador will be officially announced at that time. [kontan.co.id/photo special]
