SOME 315 PERSONNEL ON STANDBY AT SOETTA AIRPORT TO HINDER DISTURBANCES

THE SOEKARNO-Hatta (Soetta) Airport Police and the Jakarta Metropolitan Police deployed 315 personnel to prevent potential disturbances to public order and security at vital facilities, including the airport area.

“There are increased patrols at the terminals and the area around the airport, but there are no roadblocks,” Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Ronald Sipayung, spoke to antaranews on Saturday 08/30), 2025.

According to him, the increased security alert at vital facilities is aimed at preventing threats or disturbances to public order following the riots that sparked in Jakarta on Friday.

He mentioned that this security alert is implementing a patrol scheme, deploying hundreds of personnel to locations and monitoring posts.

Sipayung said that several personnel are also monitoring potential disturbances to public order and security, including in vulnerable areas.

“We did have several checkpoints in place beforehand to anticipate student activity and anarchy,” he conveyed.

His team has also prepared further security mechanisms through coordination between agencies and the Soekarno-Hatta Airport management authority.

The police confirmed that the situation and conditions in the vital areas of Indonesia’s largest airport remain safe and conducive.

Passenger movements and flights are running normally, with no significant spike following the riots during the mass protests in Jakarta, he continued.

“Conditions have been considered conducive since yesterday, with the flow of departures and arrivals being normal. According to our data, there were 141,000 passenger movements, or even fewer. Clearly, all flights and traffic are normal,” Sipayung remarked.

Based on antaranews’s monitoring of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area in Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday afternoon, increased security surveillance by a number of Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) was seen.

For example, monitoring posts in several areas of the airport, particularly along the runway, are manned by fully armed TNI officers. Security personnel are also seen patrolling the departure and arrival terminals. [antaranews]
