PRESIDENT Prabowo Subianto inaugurated five transportation infrastructures across four provinces, with total investments reaching nearly IDR2 trillion, highlighting the government’s push to boost connectivity, reduce travel time, and strengthen regional economies.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Kabanaran Bridge, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday, covering Kabanaran Bridge, Canguk Flyover, Joglo Underpass, Sambas Besar Bridge in West Kalimantan, and Gatot Subroto Underpass in North Sumatra.
“Today, we gather to inaugurate Kabanaran Bridge, Sambas Besar Bridge, Canguk Flyover, Gatot Subroto Underpass, and Joglo Underpass,” President Prabowo said, expressing gratitude to all parties involved in the projects.
The President emphasized the importance of maintenance to ensure these infrastructures continue benefiting economic and tourism sectors, urging the Public Works Ministry to execute future projects with high quality and efficiency.
According to the Government Communication Agency, the total investment in the five projects reached IDR1.97 trillion and absorbed 10,461 construction workers across the four provinces.
Kabanaran Bridge, Yogyakarta’s first inaugurated project, cost Rp863.72 billion, built over 579 days with 4,578 workers. The bridge reduces travel time by about 20 minutes, enhancing agriculture, logistics, and tourism in southern Yogyakarta.
In Central Java, Prabowo inaugurated Canguk Flyover in Magelang and Joglo Underpass in Surakarta. Canguk Flyover, costing Rp99.60 billion over 395 days with 528 workers, eases traffic at a strategic city junction.
Joglo Underpass, built over 390 days at IDR312.9 billion with 1,658 workers, cuts travel time from 5.12 minutes to 0.6 minutes, improving traffic flow by 300% and saving more than IDR3.2 million in vehicle operating costs per hour.
Sambas Besar Bridge in West Kalimantan cost IDR479.77 billion, built over 1,119 days with 2,543 workers. It reduces travel from a one-hour ferry ride to five minutes by road, strengthening connectivity to the Malaysia border.
Gatot Subroto Underpass in Medan, North Sumatra, costing IDR217.83 billion and built in 463 days with 1,154 workers, cuts travel time at Simpang Manhattan from 4.25 minutes to 1.13 minutes, easing city center traffic flow.
President Prabowo said these projects aim to accelerate mobility, lower logistics costs, and create new regional economic growth centers, reinforcing the government’s infrastructure-driven development strategy. [antaranews]
