THE INDONESIAN government continues to encourage Indonesia’s steps to catch up in the health sector through State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).
Most recently, PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia or InJourney officially started construction of the first international fertility service center in the Special Economic Zone Sanur, Bali, a strategic project which is the motor for the transformation of The Sanur as an ‘international health and wellness destination’.
Through its subsidiary, PT Hotel Indonesia Natour (InJourney Hospitality), the company collaborated with strategic partner Alpha IVF Group, a leading fertility clinic network from Malaysia, to carry out a groundbreaking ceremony for health facilities on a 6,343-square-meter area.
This fertility service center, which was developed jointly with PT Alpha IVF and SPOG Bali (ASPOBA), will provide In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) services, IVF programs, as well as comprehensive women’s and children’s health services. Operations are targeted to start mid-2027.
According to InJourney’s President Director, Maya Watono, said the presence of this IVF center was an important marker of strengthening The Sanur’s position. She believes that this project will become the first superior fertility center in the Sanur SEZ, as well as confirming The Sanur’s position as an international health and wellness destination.
“The presence of this IVF center will be the first superior fertility center in the Sanur SEZ, as well as confirming The Sanur’s position as an international health and wellness destination,” said Maya in a press statement, Saturday (12/06), 2025.
Maya noted that the transformation of The Sanur is believed to be able to withstand potential foreign exchange outflow which has currently reached IDR 86 trillion, while increasing state income by up to IDR19 trillion.
“Our vision is to reduce people’s dependence on foreign health services, so that The Sanur’s contribution to the national GDP (Gross Domestic Product/GDP) is estimated to be able to reduce the rate of foreign exchange outflow of IDR 86 trillion and increase the country’s foreign exchange by around IDR19 trillion,” she explained.
As an integrated health area, The Sanur was developed to international standards, but still carries local cultural wisdom. This area is expected to become a new landmark that unites science, tradition and tourism in one ecosystem that drives the Balinese and national economy.
The International Medical Facility is also prepared in response to the increasing needs of Indonesian people who choose to seek treatment abroad.
Meanwhile President Director of InJourney Hospitality, Christine Hutabarat, explained that the development of the fertility center is proof of InJourney’s seriousness in providing world-class health tourism.
“This is a breakthrough to answer the challenges of thousands of Indonesians who are looking for quality fertility services. Collaboration with top-notch international brands, the use of the best technology and medicines, as well as the involvement of foreign health workers shows our commitment to building a global health destination from Indonesia,” she affirmed.
Christine added that the presence of Alpha IVF will strengthen the attractiveness of The Sanur, not only for foreign tourists but also the domestic community.
Alpha IVF was selected through rigorous selection to ensure only world-class reputable service centers operate in the region. Construction of the facility will continue following the fulfillment of initial requirements, with a target of commercial operations within 18 months of the agreement taking effect.
