BATIK AIR OPENS A NEW MEDAN-PENANG ROUTE, OPERATING EVERY DAY

BATIK AIR officially opened a new international route connecting Medan Kualanamu Airport (KNO) with Penang, Malaysia (PEN), starting December 8 2025. The airline said this route was designed to answer increasingly diverse travel needs, from health, short holidays, to business mobility.

The Medan–Penang route will operate every day with a KNO–PEN departure schedule at 18.45 WIB and a PEN–KNO return flight at 17.45 local time. The airline said these operational hours provide flexibility as well as efficiency for passengers.

Batik Air also believes that the presence of this new route strengthens Kualanamu Airport as a gateway for international flights in northern Sumatra.

Apart from serving the people of Medan, this route is also said to provide easy access for passengers from Padang, Pekanbaru, Batam, Lhokseumawe, Simeulue, Nagan Raya, Gunung Sitoli and Banda Aceh.

“This route is here as a faster and more direct mobility solution, both for health, business and leisure needs,” said Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air, in an official release.

Penang has long been known as a popular medical tourism destination for the people of Sumatra and Aceh. Apart from that, the area is also known as the center of North Malaysia’s electronics industry, manufacturing and technology sectors.

The airline said this route also opens up opportunities for further connectivity to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Subang. Thus, the new route is expected to increase tourism potential and economic activity in both regions. [sources/photo special]
