AN earthquake measuring 6.7 magnitude rocked the eastern region of Aomori Prefecture, Japan, which was previously hit by a strong earthquake earlier this week, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said on Friday (12/12).
The last earthquake was recorded at 11.44 local time (09.44 WIB) with the epicenter at a depth of 20 kilometers. Japanese authorities immediately issued a tsunami warning.
Earlier, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake rocked northern Aomori and triggered a tsunami warning, which was lifted about six hours later.
The earthquake on Monday (8/12) had a depth of 54 kilometers off the east coast of Aomori and was recorded as having an intensity of more than six on Japan’s seven-point scale. [antarnews]
