FACING NEW TOURISM TRENDS, PATA INDONESIA HOLDS YEAR-END GATHERING

THE Pacific-Asia Travel Association (PATA) Indonesia Chapter on Friday, (12/19), 2025, held the PATA Indonesia Year-End Gathering 2025. The event was themed “Collaborating Beyond Borders: Strategies for Facing New Trends.”

According to the President/CEO of PATA Indonesia, Poernomo Siswoprasetijo, at the opening speech emphasized that the importance of cross-border collaboration in maintaining the competitiveness of Indonesian tourism. This activity is also a strategic forum to bring together tourism stakeholders in responding to the dynamics and new directions of the national and global tourism industry.

“At present, the tourism industry cannot function independently. To address these challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities, it is essential to foster collaboration across sectors, industries, and even countries. This Year-End Gathering is a strategic space to align perspectives and formulate joint steps forward,” said Poernomo Siswoprasetijo.

One of the primary objectives of this meeting was an interactive talk show, which featured three speakers from various sectors: Heben Ezer (Deputy General Chair for Inbound & Domestic Tour ASTINDO), Prof. Devi Roza Kausar, PhD, CHE (Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Pancasakti University), and Rina Lumbantoruan (Head of Marketing & Promotion, Tanjung Lesung Beach & Resort).

During the course of this discussion, the speakers addressed trends, opportunities, and challenges associated with the management of inbound (foreign) and domestic tourists. They also highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts among industry stakeholders, academics, and destinations in addressing changes in tourist behavior, market developments, and service quality demands.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of PATA Indonesia, Ningsih Chandra, stated that this forum was intended to serve as a platform for year-end reflection and a means of fostering sustainable synergy.

“Through the talk shows and discussions that we present, PATA Indonesia hopes to encourage the birth of concrete collaboration strategies, both at the national and international levels, to strengthen Indonesia’s adaptive, innovative, and sustainable tourism ecosystem,” Ningsih affirmed.

The PATA Indonesia Year-End Gathering 2025 has the following general aims: (1). The identification of trends and challenges faced by the tourism industry in handling inbound and domestic tourists is essential for effective business operations. (2). Develop and formulate strategies for cross-sector and cross-industry collaboration, both domestically and internationally. (3). Promote the development of strong professional relationships and facilitate the exchange of ideas among tourism industry professionals.

This event was attended by members of PATA Indonesia, tourism industry leaders, academics, associations, and strategic partners. It is expected to lay the foundation for the future of Indonesian tourism leading up to 2026. [traveltext.id]
