HEAD of Museums and Cultural Heritage, Indira Estiyanti Nurjadin has stated that management is increasing admission prices to the National Museum of Indonesia in Central Jakarta with the aim of enhancing the care and maintenance of the museum’s collections.
The management’s decision to raise the admission price to the National Museum of Indonesia for adult visitors from IDR25,000 to IDR50,000 starting January 1, 2026, has drawn public attention.
When asked for confirmation in Jakarta on Monday, June 1, 2026, Indira stated that the management needed to increase the admission fee to the National Museum of Indonesia to ensure adequate maintenance of the collection.
“The price adjustment was made so that the National Museum of Indonesia and its collections can continue to be maintained according to international standards and remain a comfortable and meaningful space for the public,” she explained.
Indira explained that the management of the National Museum of Indonesia is tasked with preserving Indonesia’s archaeological, historical, ethnographic, and numismatic heritage.
Like other museums, the National Museum of Indonesia relies on funding from the government, philanthropy, and visitor tickets to maintain its collections and provide services to the public.
The Ministry of Culture, as the institution responsible for cultural heritage museums, including the National Museum of Indonesia, has decided to increase museum entrance fees, effective in 2026.
However, special rates remain in place for people with disabilities, citizens over 60, and KIP and KIP Kuliah card holders. Proceeds from museum ticket sales are allocated to support collection maintenance and visitor services. [antaranews]
