SOME 109 flights experienced a delay at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday (01/12), 2025 due to bad weather.
According to the airport’s general manager Heru Karyadi said that 109 flights were delayed from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Seven flights must go through go around before landing and 31 flights were diverted to other airports.
“We continue to coordinate intensively with relevant parties to ensure swift and appropriate operational management regarding the impact of the rain,” he stated.
As a precautionary measure, Karyadi said that the airport is implementing delay management procedures to minimize the impact of flight departure delays through inter-agency coordination.
Despite the impact of the bad weather, he ensured that drainage within the airport area is functioning properly. Moreover, all airside facilities, such as the apron, taxiways, and runways remain operational and free of water, he added.
“The heavy rain has also resulted in flooding at multiple points en route to the airport,” Karyadi explained.
He reminded passengers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to arrive three hours in advance of their schedule to anticipate schedule changes and traffic conditions. He also asked them to monitor flight information on the internet and information screens at the airport.
Meanwhile, AirNav Indonesia has implemented go-around, holding, and divert procedures as part of ensuring flight safety.
AirNav Indonesia’s EVP of Corporate Secretary Hermana Soegijantoro said that all procedures are in line with the country’s aviation law and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations.
“All these regulations underline flight safety as top priority, and the Pilot in Command has the authority to make decisions for flight safety,” he concluded. [antaranews]
