DEPUTY Minister of Creative Economy (ekraf), Irene Umar, welcomed the Global Executive Nexus Program (GENP) which focuses on strengthening creative economy (ekraf) positioning collaboration between Indonesia and China. This was conveyed in an audience with the GENP delegation at the Office of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Jakarta.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy emphasized the strategic role of universities in opening up opportunities for cooperation, especially through developing international research-based academic networks.
“We understand how the supply chains of the two countries, Indonesia and China, can be integrated together and then dominate the global market. With talent or demographic expertise, of course each must be able to see international opportunities so that the creative economy position is always a space for creating quality jobs,” said Irene.
She explained, I hope that this meeting will be the first step in building a common goal between Indonesia and China to strengthen creative economy research and studies with Fudan University. In this way, support for the development of creative economic policies based on data and statistics related to 17 creative economy subsectors can be fulfilled.
“Indonesia has enormous resources and advantages so the Ministry of Creative Economy must create programs that are in line with the direction of the national creative economy. One of them, we have the Emak-Emak Matic program so that housewives understand new technology and we train them to become competent marketers (affiliators) and can start selling online. This means increasing their digital capacity and abilities will be more focused,” Irene affirmed.
Fudan University is one of the leading research universities in Shanghai, China, which was founded in 1905. According to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, Fudan University is ranked 36th in the world. Through the Center for Southeast Asia & Common Market (SEACM), Fudan University actively encourages regional economic research, international cooperation, and exchanges between academics for regional studies and public policy.
Representative of the GENP Indonesia Working Group, CHEN Chao, said that Indonesia has a strong local culture. This meeting facilitates in-depth understanding of the markets and culture of each country.
“We are ready to encourage strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Creative Economy because of Fudan University’s commitment to producing young professionals and global entrepreneurs at large,” she concluded. [traveltext.id]
