GARUDA INDONESIA AND CITILINK SERVE 1.1 MILLION PASSENGERS DURING EID 2026

THE GARUDA Indonesia Group, comprising Garuda Indonesia and Citilink, served 1.1 million passengers during the Eid al-Fitr 2026/1447 H period.

According to Garuda Indonesia’s Director of Operations, Dani Haikal Iriawan, said this figure consisted of 501,336 Garuda Indonesia passengers on 3,297 flights and 681,162 Citilink passengers on 4,357 flights. During the period from March 14–29, 2026, the on-time performance (OTP) rate was 92.08%, the highest achievement in the last three years during the Eid al-Fitr period.

“This achievement is a strong indicator of our consistent improvement in operational performance, particularly in managing high flight intensity during the peak season,” Dani said in a recent official statement.

Compared to the 2025 and 2024 figures, the OTP during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period only reached 87.12% and 86.07%, respectively. Overall, the Garuda Indonesia Group also recorded a passenger load factor (SLF) of 86%, reflecting consistent growth in travel demand during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period.

Dany explained that this achievement was supported by a comprehensive strengthening of operational strategies, from optimizing fleet readiness, personnel readiness across all service lines, to intensive coordination with regulators and relevant stakeholders.

Furthermore, Dani emphasized that this success was also the result of close collaboration with passengers in following flight procedures. This was especially true for passengers arriving early at the airport, as it was a crucial factor in maintaining smooth operations amidst the high Eid al-Fitr traffic.

The routes with the highest traffic were dominated by domestic routes such as Jakarta–Medan, Jakarta–Banda Aceh, Surabaya–Denpasar, Jakarta–Pangkal Pinang, and Yogyakarta–Denpasar. Meanwhile, for international routes, the highest traffic was recorded on Jakarta–Amsterdam, Jakarta–Medina, Jakarta–Jeddah, Jakarta–Haneda, and Denpasar–Tokyo.

Previously, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi reported that the total number of public transportation passengers during this year’s Eid al-Fitr holiday was 23.54 million.

“This represents a 10.87% increase compared to the previous year’s 21.23 million passengers,” he explained in a press conference recently.

He explained that 4.77 million passengers used air transportation, a 6.97% increase compared to 4.47 million passengers in 2025. Airplanes were the third-largest mode of transportation, after trains, which carried 7.31 million passengers, and ferry services, which carried 5.52 million passengers. [sources/photo special]
