SOEKARNO-Hatta (Soetta) International Airport recorded a total passenger movement of 13,492,421 passengers in the first quarter of 2026, an increase of approximately 5.5% compared to the 12,783,331 passengers in the same period the previous year.
Throughout the first three months of this year, the number of departing passengers reached 6.73 million and arriving passengers reached 6.76 million.
“Total aircraft movements also increased by 6.8%, from 86,777 flights to 92,710,” said Soekarno-Hatta International Airport General Manager Heru Karyadi on Monday (04/13), 2026.
He explained that this increase in traffic was in line with the growing demand for air travel at the beginning of the year. “This increase in flight traffic is in line with the growing demand for flights during the Christmas and New Year holidays in January 2026, as well as the Eid al-Fitr holiday season in March 2026.”
Soekarno-Hatta Airport management, Heru said, along with all airport stakeholders, continues to ensure optimal operations to accommodate flight needs.
Heru stated that the favorite flight routes in the first three months of this year were still dominated by major domestic routes, such as Jakarta–Denpasar, Jakarta–Kualanamu, and Jakarta–Surabaya.
Meanwhile, on international routes, flight traffic was dominated by Jakarta–Singapore, Jakarta–Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta–Jeddah. “This reflects the high level of public mobility for business, tourism, and religious pilgrimages,” he added.
Heru stated that the increase in passenger numbers and aircraft movements was also supported by the optimization of airport operations and close collaboration with all stakeholders, including airlines and other partners.
According to him, Soekarno-Hatta Airport will remain committed to improving service quality and strengthening operational reliability to provide the best experience for passengers.
He concluded that in the second quarter of 2026, Soekarno-Hatta Airport will focus on serving prospective Hajj pilgrims during the Hajj transportation period and during school holidays. [tempo.co/photo special]
