BALI’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has added two new domestic routes to and from Waingapu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Wakatobi Matahora, Southeast Sulawesi. These two new routes are operated by TransNusa Airlines.
The inaugural flight from Bali to Waingapu began on Wednesday (July 15th), while the first to Wakatobi Matahora began on Thursday (July 16th).
Comac ARJ-21 flight 8B-5652 took off from Bali on Wednesday (July 15th) at 8:19 a.m. Central Indonesian Time (WITA) with 88 passengers on board.
The return flight from Waingapu (WGP), flight 8B-5653, landed in Bali at 12:24 p.m. Central Indonesian Time (WITA), with 94 passengers on board.
The following Thursday morning, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport launched its inaugural flight from Bali (DPS) to Wakatobi Matahora (Indonesian citizens).
Flight 8B-5662 departed at 8:10 a.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time) with 90 passengers. The return flight, 8B-5663, arrived in Bali at 1:32 p.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time), carrying 70 passengers.
These two new routes officially bring the total domestic route network served by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali to 22 by July 2026.
“We congratulate TransNusa on the launch of flights from Waingapu and Wakatobi.
These two routes add to the existing routes previously operated by TransNusa to and from Bali,” said Nugroho Jati, General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, as reported by Antara.
The addition of these routes strengthens I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport’s position as a strategic air transportation hub and provides easier connectivity for domestic and international tourists to various destinations in Indonesia.
To provide travel flexibility for residents and tourists, domestic airline TransNusa operates these two new routes regularly. The Bali-Waingapu route and back is scheduled to operate four times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
The Bali-Wakatobi Matahora route and back is scheduled to operate three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
“These two new routes have significant potential to boost economic growth and the ecosystem.
We invite all parties to work together to maintain the sustainability of these flights, so that these routes will continue to grow and expand in the future,” said Nugroho Jati.
