THE MINISTRY of Tourism is actively promoting the world cultural heritage site Prambanan Temple in the Sleman Regency (Yogyakarta Special Region) and Klaten Regency (Central Java) as tourist destinations.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa in Jakarta, Saturday (10/17), 2026, said that the Prambanan Shiva Festival which will be held at the Prambanan Temple complex from January 6 to March 7 2027 has been promoted through international tourism exhibitions.
According to him, this religious event was promoted, among other things, at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026. The Prambanan Shiva Festival 2027 has also been promoted at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse India 2026 which took place at the Jio World Convention Center, Mumbai, from September 1 to 3.
In addition, Indonesian embassies in various countries are helping to promote the 2027 Prambanan Shiva Festival and the government is collaborating with the Indian Embassy to promote the appeal of Prambanan Temple to tourists.
“We hope that with support from the embassy the reach of awareness or promotions like this event will also be wider,” said Ni Luh Puspa.
Ni Luh Puspa said that the Ministry of Tourism demonstrated the attractiveness of Prambanan Temple at the Wonderful Indonesia Tourism Fair (WITF) 2026 which was attended by potential buyers from 45 countries.
The promotion of Prambanan at the WITF 2026 event is expected to encourage travel agents and tour operators to present tourism service packages that include the Prambanan Shiva Festival 2027.
The Ministry of Tourism is promoting Prambanan Temple to travel agents who take part in introductory travel activities. “Usually this is also one of the things we promote to them, so that later the tour packages can also be sold to tourists,” he said.
Promotion of the attractiveness of Prambanan Temple and the 2027 Prambanan Shiva Festival is intended to attract the arrival of more tourists, which it is hoped will bring economic benefits to business actors and residents in tourist destination areas. [traveltext.id/photo special]
