RUSSIA’S National airline, Aeroflot, will fly its aircraft to evacuate Russian citizens from Bali on Sunday (29/3) amid a corona virus outbreak. The special mission was revealed by the Russian Ministry of Transportation, as quoted by Russian news agency, Sputnik, Saturday.
“To evacuate Russian citizens from Bali, Aeroflot will conduct an additional flight with 457 seats on March 29,” the ministry said in a statement.
The report did not say how many people would be taken on the Aeroflot flight. On Thursday (3/26), the Russian Government ordered the Federal Air Transportation Agency to ban all regular and international charter flights starting Friday (3/27).
An exception was made for flights aimed at bringing Russian citizens home from abroad amid the corona virus pandemic, according to the Sputnik report.
The World Health Organization on March 11 declared the new COVID-19 corona virus to be a pandemic, an epidemic that was contagious simultaneously in various regions.
So far according to Johns Hopkins University, more than 590,000 people worldwide have contracted the corona virus and more than 27,000 people have lost their lives due to the virus.
Meanwhile, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Health website, infectionemerging.kemkes.go.id, until Saturday at 16.00 WIB the total number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia reached 1,155 and 102 people were killed.
