FORD introduces its latest sports car, the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, which fully uses electricity while still carrying performance as a racing car.
According to Dave Pericak, Global Director, Ford Icons, in his official statement said with speeds of up to 274 km per hour, this Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 electric can bulldoze 400 meters of road in just under 8 seconds, without any painful sound and ear drops fuel.
“For the first time, Ford Performance introduced the Mustang Cobra Jet drag racing car with full electric drive. The battery-powered Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is specially designed and projected to produce more than 1,400 horsepower and more than 1,100 feet-lbs of torque,” he said .
He added, Ford always uses motorsport to show innovation. We are happy to showcase what might have happened in an exciting year when we also had the all-electric Mustang Mach-E joining the Mustang family.
“Following the debut of the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV, the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is another opportunity to advance the Mustang’s legacy and performance while simultaneously incorporating some of the upcoming cutting-edge technology for the future Ford powertrain,” Dave Pericak noted.
He also explained, the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 also respected the original Cobra Jet that first dominated the drag arena in the late 1960s and is still a major force in drag racing today.
Meanwhile Mark Rushbrook, Global Director, Ford Performance Motorsports said this project is a challenge for all of us at Ford Performance, but it is a challenge that we like. We see the Cobra Jet 1400 project as an opportunity to start developing an electric powertrain in a race car package that already has a lot of experience, so we have performance benchmarks that we want to match and beat now.
“Ford Performance continues to test the Cobra Jet 1400 ahead of its world debut later this year at the drag racing arena where fans, media and competitors alike will meet, and see exactly what it is capable of doing on the streets,” he said.
