MINISTER of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said five super tourist destinations namely Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo and Likupang remained included as the 2020 National Strategic Project (NSP) prioritized by the government.
“About NSP 5 super tourist priority destinations, namely in Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang in North Sulawesi. The point is at the Ministry of PUPR even though it is saved at IDR44 trillion in 2020 there are no canceled activities, of IDR44 trillion are the postponement will be a priority in 2021 which has been allocated by the Minister of Finance,” Basuki said at his office in Jakarta, Friday.
Basuki said that after attending a limited meeting with the theme “Evaluation of PSN for the Recovery of the National Economic Impact of COVID-19” led directly by President Joko Widodo through video conferencing.
“In 2020 a budget of IDR6.4 trillion was allocated for 5 tourist destinations and this does not include savings because this is a priority in the hope that after this pandemic, this will be the fastest to rebound,” Basuki noted.
He added, of the IDR6.4 trillion contract, IDR5.1 trillion had already been signed and someone had already begun work. There are only started this week, after Lebaran, for example in Lake Toba, the activities are the arrangement of the Parapat Beach and the arrangement of the Huta Raja Siallagan area in Samosir including regional activities such as road improvement, road widening, gates, markets, and others.
“While in Borobudur, Central Java, additional access has been made to the main and Klangon Gate. So access to Borobudur there are several gates, from Sentul, from Wates, from Magelang street, and from Purworejo. So there are some gates that will be built to take tourists to the Borobudur area. There is a main access road and gates that we have contracted this year, “said Basuki.
He explained, while in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara, the Ministry of PUPR, according to Basuki, was tasked with preparing the access road from Lombok International Airport (BIL) to Mandalika along 17 kilometers. This has already finished bidding, it is just a package and work will begin in 2020 soon, so that 2021 can be completed including the improvement of the Belubuk Beach area in Mandalika.
“Furthermore, in Labuan Bajo, West Nusa Tenggara, all activities have been contracted, for example the canal from Puncak Waringin, on the Soekarno Hatta road below or above to be widened and in the Mirror Cave. Then in Manado-Bitung Likupang there have been activities including the arrangement of Malalayang Beach in Manado that can be used for culinary in Manado,” Basuki affirmed.
