TOURISM Malaysia Jakarta held a Halal Bi Halal for the first time virtually in the context of Idul Fitri on Friday (12/06). This virtual hospitality step was chosen to get around the COVID-19 pandemic where everyone must comply with health protocols and remain #dirumahaja.
According to the Director of Tourism Malaysia Jakarta, Roslan Othman said that one of the traditions during Idul Fitri in Indonesia was the Halal Bi Halal event. But this year’s event of Tourism Malaysia Jakarta is very different from previous years. Because, this is the first time halal bi halal is done virtually through a webinar.
“In the new normal order, gathering activities conducted virtually through webinars are a way to stay close to media partners and Tourism Malaysia partners. The ongoing pandemic has not diminished the spirit of Tourism Malaysia to stay in touch with Halal bihalal so that good relations will be maintained,” he said.
Othman added, even though we were forced to with this limited situation, but it would give a favor where Halal Bi Halal which was held this time, could also join with colleagues from the Central Office in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Also attending were honorary guests, namely the Chairperson of Tourism Director of Malaysia, Zulkifly Md Said and Noran Ujang, Director of International Promotion (ASEAN) and also representatives from the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC).
Meanwhile Zulkifly Bin Md Said expressed his gratitude to all the media partners and attendees who attended this virtual event and it was hoped that this pandemic would end soon and that good relations between the two countries of Malyaisa-Indonesia would always be closely intertwined.
“In Malaysia, it has also begun to enter a transition period to apply ‘new normal’ in various aspects, one of which is in the tourism sector. Various health protocols are being designed to prepare to welcome back the movement of domestic and international tourists visiting Malaysia,” Zulkifly Said noted.
He also explained, currently the trend of adding positive daily cases in Malaysia had declined. As of June 11, 2020, there were 8,369 positive cases in Malaysia, 7.065 had been declared cured and there were still 1,186 cases still being treated. We hope that after the COVID-19 pandemic the situation will soon improve again, both in Malaysia and in Indonesia and in other ASEAN countries so that the regional tourism industry can start moving again soon.
The one-hour of Halal Bi Halal virtual event also gave the media partners the opportunity to discuss with representatives of Malaysian royal agencies present such as the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and Malaysia MySecond Home (MM2H) while enjoying a special meal of the holiday (Lemang, rendang and kuih-muih) which had previously been delivered to the address of each attendee who attended the Halal Bi Halal Tourism Malaysia Jakarta event.
