MINISTER of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the State Budget (APBN) deficit from January to May 2020 had reached IDR179.6 trillion or 1.1% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Sri Mulyani stated that the deficit was 21.1% of the APBN ceiling in Perpres 54/2020 which amounted to IDR852.9 trillion or 5.07% of GDP.
“This means an increase of 42.8% deficit because it appears that all revenues contract. Meanwhile, the government will widen the budget deficit to 6.34% of GDP or IDR1,039.2 trillion in the 2020 Budget Amendment from the previous assumption of 5.07% of GDP or IDR852.9 trillion,” she said.
Sri Mulyani said that until the end of May 2020 the realization of state revenues had only reached IDR664.3 trillion or 37.7% of the target in accordance with Perpres 54 of 2020 amounting to IDR1,760.9 trillion.
The realization of the country’s revenue contracted by 9% compared to the same period last year which amounted to IDR730.1 trillion or has reached 37.3% of the 2019 state budget target of IDR1,958.6 trillion.
One of the contraction in state revenue was supported by the realization of tax revenue which was only able to reach IDR526.2 trillion or 36% of the target and decreased by 7.9% compared to May 2019.
The realization of contracted tax revenue was due to the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) ‘s income experiencing pressures of up to 10.8% to IDR444.6 trillion in May this year compared to last year of IDR498.5 trillion. However, tax revenue from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) was able to grow 12.4% to IDR81.7 trillion.
The contraction in state revenue was also supported by the realization of Non-Tax State Revenues (PNBP) which also decreased by 13.6% compared to last year which was only IDR136.9 trillion and only 46% of the target of the Presidential Regulation 54 in 2020 IDR297.8 trillion.
Meanwhile, state expenditures have been realized IDR843.9 trillion or 32.3% of the target change in the State Budget in presidential decree (Perpres) 54/2020, namely IDR2,613.8 trillion until the end of May 2020. Realization of state expenditure decreased 1.4% compared to the same period in 2019 namely reaching IDR855.9 trillion, which grew 9.8% from the realization of April 2018 and 37.1% from the APBN ceiling.
